In his design practice and philosophy Eugene Nahemow shares: I
look to simple, clean, contemporary architecture and details,
grounded in fine craftsmanship, that survive and surpass trends.
In Editions nothing is extraneous; details do not interrupt but add
balance. I started designing a selection of the Editions line that
incorporate the charred wood method of Shou-sugi- ban for the
reason that the Japanese used it -- the material does not burn or
allow insects to devour. My approach is to unify material, method
and design for lasting permanence and history.
The photography of Studio Nahemow design projects and Editions
produced for this presentation is an artistic collaboration with fine
art photographers. Documenting the design projects and the
Editions is an ongoing project. Rather than formal, traditional
interior views, the depictions reflect the vision and personal
viewpoint of the photographer. The purpose of this project is to
provoke thought, and in the collaboration of disciplines create
something new in the creation of original works of fine art
photography.
